What is the golden section?

The Golden Section is derived from the forms of seashells proportionally decreasing in size. 1.62 is the golden number.

Paper sizes are created using the golden section/ Fibonacci sequence:


We can also apply the Fibonacci sequence to typographic and editorial layouts. For example, a 55 point title should be complimented with a 34 point bodycopy.
